The China International Electronic Commerce Expo conference, supported by the Ministry of commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Office of the Cyberspace Administration of China, China Internet Network Information Center,  jointly hold by Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, China International Electronic Commerce, China electronics Chamber of Commerce, and People’s Government of Yiwu CityThe Expo had intensively demonstrated the latest research and development of digital trade domestically and internationally, published along with new applications of latest technologies and products, as well as enterprises of the full e-commerce industrial chain including e-commerce platforms, financial payment, logistics and express delivery, technological support, data services and excellent online products. It has become the first choice for domestic e-commerce enterprises to conduct image display, new products introduction, trade negotiations and information spreading.

The 2018 China International Electronic Commerce Expo was held on April 11-13 in the Yiwu International Expo Center,themed with “New Era for E-commerce, New Momentum for Trade”, the 2018 China International Electronic Commerce Expo will set up 2,221 exhibition booths with international standards in an exhibition area of 50,000 m2 into ten display areas, including Famous E-commerce Platform Area, Cross-border E-commerce Area, New Retail Area, E-commerce Demonstration City/Base/Enterprises area, Community E-commerce/Mobile Internet Area, E-commerce Service Enterprises Area, Area of E-commerce in Rural Areas, Smart Products Area, Belt and Road Initiative Area and Top-brand Online Products Area. 

Attracting 1100 enterprises from 32 foreign countries and regions and 19 domestic provinces and cities. Many top brand enterprises of e-commerce from home and abroad were present, like Baidu, Alibaba, Jingdong, Ebay, SK, HC network, Suning E-commerce, DHgate, China Post, Shunfeng, DHL, China Mobile, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Shanghai Guanyi, Kingdee, Lenovo, HP, Samsung, Foxconn, Beijirong, Vinda, Langsha, and Julong. There were 140,000 people from 22 countries and regions visiting the expo, and 35,076 letters of intent were signed.

Chronicle of the Expo

1999: The China International Electronic Commerce Application Expo, the first international expo of Chinese e-commerce, was held in Beijing. It was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the former Ministry of Information and Industry, and undertaken by the China International Electronic Commerce Center, covering 14,000 square meters with about 30 countries and regions attending. The then leaders of the Party and the State such as Wu Bangguo and Li Lanqing visited and inspected the expo.


2009: The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology sponsored the second China International Electronic Commerce Application Expo. The then Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress Hua Jianmin was present.


2014: The China International Electronic Commerce Expo was held at the Yiwu International Expo Center. Yiwu was chosen as the host city of the expo, and the expo would be held in April every year.




Exhibition Platform at the National Level


Depending on its unique market advantages, perfect support facilities, practical policies and measures, and prominent effectiveness in economy and trade, the exhibition industry of Yiwu has found a unique development road of “promoting prosperity through the interaction of exhibition and trade”. The quality resources gathered by the largest market in the world have formed the unique advantages of the exhibition industry of Yiwu. The 70,000 commercial tenants, 200,000 customers and merchants every day, more than 13,000 foreign merchants in Yiwu, 3,000 foreign business organizations in Yiwu and more than 500,000 foreign merchants coming to Yiwu every year constitute a huge purchasing group, which creates the high trade index of Yiwu, becoming the core competitiveness of the exhibition industry in the city. Yiwu boasts an advanced modern service industry, and its service system related to exhibition, including hotels, catering, logistics, customs, commodity inspection, finance, insurance, advertisement, tourism, translation and exit and entry administration, is completely in international standard. The exhibition facilities in Yiwu are first-class in the country, with two exhibition halls, one conference center, and could provide 6,800 indoor booths.  


Huge Number of Domestic and Foreign Purchasers


With more than 60% of its trade for overseas, Yiwu attracts 318,000 purchasers from 209 countries and regions, and almost 3,008 offices of foreign enterprises are stationed in the city. The number of permanent foreign merchants in Yiwu has reached 15,000, and exports amount to 570,000 standard containers every year, selling to 219 countries and regions. The transaction volume of the city tops all the specialized markets in China for 20 consecutive years. Yiwu has become the largest circulation and exhibition center of everyday consumption goods in the world, as well as an important export base of China. In March 2011, approved by the State Council, the pilot comprehensive reform of international trade was launched in Yiwu, the first national comprehensive reform pilot at the county-level in the country.


Robust Development of E-Commerce


Over recent years, Yiwu E-commerce has enjoyed a rapid development depending on its entity market and logistics advantages, and the E-commerce industry cluster and the national online busines center have basically stood out. Named “Zhejiang Province E-Commerce Exemplenary City”, Yiwu city boasts over 200 online supermarkets with their own websites, and more than 60,000 sellers on taobao.com, of which more than 20,000 are active sellers. It has over 2,900 stores in Tmall, 24,000 members in 1688.com, more than 20,000 registered sellers in AliExpress.com and over 6,000 active sellers in eBay. In the first half of 2013, its daily domestic express reached 550,000 pieces at average, ranking the 6th in China, and the international express amounted to 200,000 pieces, ranking the 4th in the country. Yiwu is striving for “a cluster center for national businesses online, a global online marketing center, a cross-border e-commerce highland” and to create an international e-commerce center.


Unique Market Advantages


Yiwu is the largest commodity circulation center and purchasing base in the world. With a market area of 4.7 million square meters and over 70,000 stores and more than 1.7 million kinds of commodities, Yiwu is the largest supply base of goods online in China. More and more well-known e-commerce platforms have come to Yiwu to make purchases. According to a survey, 75% of China’s daily commodities online come from Yiwu directly or indirectly.


Expo Highlights

Along with the Expo, the 5th APEC E-Commerce Business Alliance Forum and Yiwu Spring Festival Trade Goods Fair 2014 will also be held. Officials from governmental departments, well-known scholars and famous E-commerce entrepreneurs will be invited to attend the meeting and hundreds of well-known enterprises from home and abroad will also be invited to increase the businesses’ core competitiveness.
